In January this year, we started our cooperation with the Save the Med Foundation. Save the Med is a local nature conservation organisation committed to the preservation and regeneration of the Mediterranean Sea around the Balears. The money that will be donated to Save the Med with every Flor de Sal d'Es Trenc product sold from January 2021 onwards will contribute to the preservation of the biodiversity of the Mediterranean Sea and help to activate the local population to protect this unique habitat.

Since 2018, the Foundation Save The Med has been committed to regenerating nature on the Balearic Islands through various projects. Above all, the preservation of marine protected areas and the education and awareness-raising of the local population, including families, schools, various institutions and companies, are close to the team's heart. As part of the new collaboration, we in Salinas d'Es Trenc are doing our part to fund this important work. Save The Med comprises a dedicated team of passionate scientists and people from different fields who are passionate about the sea, including many volunteers.

Sea salt has been extracted from our salt pans since 1953. Located in the Es Trenc Salobrar de Campos Nature Reserve, we not only benefit from the impressive ecosystem that surrounds us, but through our work we make a vital contribution to its existence and biodiversity. The nature park covers an area of more than 300 hectares of land and an extensive marine area. Our salt pans are located in the heart of the nature park, a natural habitat for numerous and partly protected plant and animal species typical of wetlands. Waders, flamingos, ospreys, avocets, black-winged stilts, Kentish plovers among carpets of springs and the many seawater pools are characteristic of this unique protected area.

Because of our close connection with nature, its well-being is particularly close to our hearts. That is why we work with Save the Med under the guiding principle "Better together" to sensitise and engage as many people as possible in environmental, socio-economic issues such as sustainability, ecology, conscious consumption and circular economy. Our collaboration with Save The Med includes a wide range of joint activities in the areas of marine research, awareness-raising and education. To this end, a portion of the sales proceeds is donated to the foundation each year. With every purchase of a Flor de Sal d'Es Trenc product, consumers contribute to the preservation and regeneration of the Mediterranean Sea.
